George Klauer. The raid occurred at 526 Kansas Avenue on the same day as the one on Frank Murphy's place. Reports of Frank's attempts to close down both Murphy and Klauer continued for at least a couple of years in the local papers. Klauer was a well known "jointist" who had been in and out of court for years, starting in about 1899. Over the years several raids were made on his establishment, the accusation being that he sold liquor in the back of his cigar store.
